Heh, it's been a while since I've posted here. To catch everybody up to speed in January I decided to go back to school and get a BFA in Communication Design. Here are some roughs for the project i am currently working on.

A Painting a Day

In an effort to become a better painter I have decided to paint something everyday. Today reminded me how much I still have to learn about painting. I forgot how hard it is to paint something the way it looks. Well here is number 1. It can only get better from here, I hope. Heh.

I have more time to work on the comic, thanks getting laid off. Two in the last week. Hopefully I keep momentum. It's been busy couple of months. April f8tl studio, which I am a member had it's first show. May was a lot of personal stuff, and I got laid off. On top of all that f8tl had a second show. We started having figure drawing once a week at the studio. Aside from paying work I've been pretty busy. Hope your week is filled with paying gigs and bags and bags of barbeque corn nuts. The show this month will be on the 25th. I don't think a time or a name for the show has been decided. It's going to take place at F8tl Studio. That's the name of the studio space myself and some other people rent out. It's cozy. I actually got some work done there last weekend. Here it is.

Last month I met with a group of artists and was invited to join the studio they were setting up. I was contacted yesterday about getting together to discuss the possibility of a show at the space we rent out. I'm pretty excited. I'll fill you all in as I find out more information. Hello New Year

Well here we are at the end of another year. It's funny, it feels like 2008 just started. Oh well.

No more fucking around.

Goals for this year:

1. Draw more
2. Paint more.
3. Put the comic out regularly.
4. Update the blog at least once a week.
5. Work on project X.
6. Get my shit out there.
7. Update ghastly1.com with new art.
8. Get back into participating in Illustration Friday.
9. Draw more.
10. Paint More.

There is my list. No more fucking around. I have momentum. I need to keep working and keep it going.

Over Christmas I painted something for Ms. Ghastly. As I was sitting there working it occurred to me that I like to paint. That may sound stupid but I realized that painting was something I liked to do, something I had fun doing. Go figure.

What everything basically boils down too is I need to remember that my job is where I make money so I can make art. If it's been a long day and I'm tired tough shit, I can put in at least an hour of work. No more fucking excuses.

Happy New Year! I hope every one's year has been productive and fruitful. I look forward to talking to you all more often. Hope your night is filled with friends and all the beer you can drink. Talk to you all soon.

Jesus, it's already December. Where did the year go? Wow that was quick.

I recently participated in the Canvas Project held by the Art House Gallery. They basically sent five mini canvases to people all over the country to be painted and sent back for a show on Dec 12. The theme for the show was 10,000 memories or something like that. Here is my submission.

Sorry about the image quality. At the moment I only have the camera on my phone.

Art House usually has a few art projects going at a time. I've participated in three so far. I just singed up for The Sketchbook Project Volume 3 they send you a blank 64 page sketchbook and you fill the pages and send it back to be included in a show. The difference this time around is they're going to be shown in several different cities. This should be fun.

Wow, September already. Summer appears to have come and gone when I was not looking. It's been a crazy few months at work. Lots to do and it's all due yesterday. That is no excuse for the lack of work, real work, being posted or letting the comic slip by the wayside.

Yesterday after work I cleaned and organized my studio. I also moved my drafting table so it now faces the TV. Shitty I know, in my head it'll make me work more. I'll post stuff as I make it.

I've had camera issues since taking it to the beach, so if anyone could recommend a good and cheap camera it would be much appreciated.

New comic is up. I can't believe that march is almost over. Lately its been tough to get any work done, I'm so tired, bored at work that when I get home all I want to do is go to sleep.

Last week I picked up the first season of the Boondocks. I cannot recommend these dvds more. It's smart, funny and usually at the end it makes you think. Plus, I dare you not to laugh at the horrible shit Uncle Ruckus, no relation, says.

Goodbye 2007, hello 2008. Goals for this year:

Post regularly. I have a ton of stuff, but never seem to have the time to scan and post it (Warcraft we're looking in your direction).

Do more than one or two comics in a year. After the wedding, looking for and eventually getting a job, I had little drive to crank these out anymore. I was also in a position where I didn't know which direction I wanted to take the comic, much less if I could be funny every week. Well they're gonna start coming out again good or bad. One shitty comic is worth a thousand ideas.(Not mine forgot which forum I read that on.)

Lastly I need to make more work this year. Lots more.

Needless to say that this is my favorite time of year. Me and Mrs. Ghastly carved our pumpkins today. They all seemed small at the store. Hello again. It's been a long time since the last post. I had to replace my computer(R.I.P. Zoidberg). Also I started a new job at the end of May and I've been trying to adjust to a regular work schedule. Last week me and the wife headed out to the beach for a couple of days. So now that the battery is recharged I give you this in honor of my trip.

It has been decided I'm starting this on Tuesday the 24th. Here are the rules. So here is how we're doing this I will be going into this without any idea of what I'm drawing about, That's your job. This is something that I'm very excited about. All pieces have to be created on no bigger than a 12 X 12 piece of cardboard. So yeah if you check under the artist section you can see the stuff I'm sending to the show. There is something freeing about working on cardboard. I guess its cause if you fuck up how cares. Well it's been a long time coming but the game review section is up. Well be looking at old school games mostly Nintendo, mostly. Also new Lurking is up but for some reason its showing a blank page. So who knows. Anyway enjoy the new section.
